Kia Sets Best-Ever Sales Record in 2016
2016 was a great year for Kia. Not only did the brand earn accolades and awards from across the industry, but it also set a new best-ever sales record for the year here in the United States. Kia saw sales of 647,598 vehicles, which was an increase of 3.5% over 2015 sales.
Some of the standouts from the year include the Kia Soul, Sorento, Optima, and Forte, all exceeding sales of 100,000 units for the first time. In addition, the Soul earned the title of the best-selling Kia in the U.S.
The biggest sales gains came from the Sportage compact crossover and Forte compact car. The Sportage saw a sales jump of more than 50% and the Forte family of cars increased more than 30%, records for both models.
“From J.D. Power and Consumer Reports to many other respected third-party experts, Kia has never been more highly rated for quality and dependability, and customers flocked to our showrooms in December and throughout 2016 to experience all that the ‘New Kia’ offers,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, KMA.
Kia started 2017 off with a bang with the introduction of the all-new 2018 Kia Stinger at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month.
