Kia Named Sponsor for “One Lap of America”
One Lap of America Sponsor
In its 35th year running, the “One Lap of America” race always has an official vehicle provider. This year, that sponsor happened to be Kia. The “One Lap of America” race is just what it sounds like. On Saturday, May 5th, the race began in South Bend, Indiana, and drivers traveled a subsequent 3,716 miles across 12 different states.
Racing Across The Country
While the drivers don’t make it through every state, they do make stops at multiple racetracks around the route like the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans and the High Plains Raceway in Denver. “One Lap of America” started back in 1970, under the name, “Cannonball Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash.” While the name has obviously changed, the intention remains the same, requiring drivers to complete long stretches of driving paired with timed trials at race tracks along the way.
Multiple drivers entered to compete in 13 different challenges over the course of “One Lap.” While they will use their personal vehicles, Kia vehicles helped transport the staff throughout the race.
