The onset of a new year means it’s time to set some goals and truly stick to them. Exercising is a great New Year’s resolution because you’ll have the chance to strengthen your body and mind. But maintaining your routine can be one of the toughest parts about your new goal. Here are some tips for exercise motivation that’ll help you get that beach body just in time for summer.
Create an awesome playlist
When it comes to exercise, one huge motivator for most people is music. Whether it’s an upbeat Top 40 hit by Bruno Mars or a classic hip hop jam from the 90s, your favorite tunes are sure to help you get in the mood to exercise. Utilize those apps on your phone (Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora) and turn the volume up!
Get an accountabili-buddy
Having someone who keeps you accountable for your workout routine is a surefire way to stick to your goals all year long. Find a friend with similar exercise goals and set up a system of either working out together or checking in with each other to ensure you’re both sticking to the plan.
Don’t overdo it
You might get a bit overzealous with your initial exercise goal, but don’t be afraid to listen to your body and do a bit less than you originally expected. The worst thing you can do to your body is ignore it. If you go too hard at first, you may end up injuring yourself, making it a lot harder to stick to your workout goal for the rest of the year.
Setting an exercise goal doesn’t mean you have to go to a gym every day and run on a treadmill. If that’s not your thing, don’t force yourself to get fit that way. There are plenty of hobbies and sports that provide plenty of exercise outside of a gym environment.
