Kia Soul EV and Niro EV Upgrades Revealed
Kia’s green model lineup has just received a massive update. The Korean carmaker recently introduced Kia Soul EV and Niro EV upgrades that increase these electric vehicles’ range and appeal. Unveiled last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show, these two models are set to electrify the industry.
For the 2020 model year, the Kia Soul EV will keep its original design, utilizing its boxy style and modern grille to help it stand out from its competition. It will come in two trim levels – the EV and EV “Design Collection”. The latter will allow consumers to choose from extra paint options and will add powered mirrors, a 10-speaker Harmon/Kardon audio system, wireless phone charging, and luxurious interior styling.
This model will be powered by a 64-kWh battery, combined with an electric motor to help the Soul EV put out 201 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque.
The Niro EV will also see some changes in 2019 with two trim levels – EX and EX Premium. It will put out the same numbers performance-wise as the 2020 Soul EV, utilizing the same exact powertrain, down to its 64 kWh battery. The Niro EV will have four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport, and Eco+ – along with a Brake and Hold System, Smart Regen System, Smart Eco Pedal Guide, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
