Local Football Stars Come Together for Heart of a Champion All-Star Game
For years now, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has put on a one-of-a-kind event here in Tyler, Texas, the FCA Heart of a Champion All-Star Game. This game brings together some of the best local football talent along with cheerleaders and even a marching band for a phenomenal evening of fun, family, and sports.
On Saturday, June 11th nearly 100 football players got to play together in one last high school game before many of them go on to the collegiate level. The players are nominated by their high school coaches and then chosen by the all-star game coaching staff. They are divided between the red and blue teams and wear their helmets from their home schools. The players represent over 50 area high schools.
The annual game was held at Rose Stadium here in Tyler, Texas. In the end the red team overtook the blue team with a field goal in the last few seconds of the game to bring the score to 34-31. Afterwards, family, friends, and fans gathered on the field together to celebrate not only the game, but a weekend of fellowship, service, and all-around fun.
